Cake smash - 1st Birthday Fun

 So this year I decided I wanted to do lots more cake smash photo shoots.  12 years ago I was one of the first photographers in Staffordshire to offer this shoot which I got the idea from USA.  I used to be so busy with then my Baker almost had a full time job just with my cake orders.

The shoots have slowed down over the past years with more and more photographers popping up and offering these fun shoots - so I decided this year I would design new sets, and become the ‘go to cake smash photographer’ - that’s the goal anyway.

So this month  I have 7 this month and I can’t wait to design the sets - which I spend my evenings making.

So far I’ve done unicorn - which consisted of a unicorn balloon arch which I design and make myself.  

The next was a little more unique and I will be the only person in the country to offer this design - natural hearts - this consists of natural colour heart material in the background, hessian material, coffee coloured balloons and teddies holding hearts in crates plus some bunting lol - I have to say it looked super stunning.

Coming this week is pastel rainbows - which I will make a rainbow balloon arch, rainbow macrame and clouds using a cream background with wooden floor , and the second one to come this week is ‘hot air balloons’. I will create a blue background with clouds and hot air balloons.  I have been making the hot air balloons and clouds from foam, card and stuffed felt.

I cant wait to show these but for now here is the first couple of shoots I’ve done - keep posted for our next themes x

Archie's First Birthday Cake Smash Shoot

We kicked off 2022 with a wonderful 1st birthday shoot for little Archie.   His mummy chose our wonderful jungle scene and she added a personalised bunting and bought some of Archie's teddies from home to incorporate in the scene.  

Archie wore his own little outfit from home and they bought their own cake.

He loved to play with the spoons and enjoyed bashing the cake - he wasn't so fond of the taste tho LOL

A cake smash is a form of messy play and we encourage them to play, touch, feel and taste to experience and enjoy the session.   Archie certainly tried to experience everything and enjoyed peeling the chocolate and eating that.  

We finished off the session with a splash bath which Archie absolutely loved and that's where we saw his little character come to life.  He totally enjoyed that part of the session and what better way to end the photo shoot by cleaning away the mess?

 Welcome 2022

We had a successful Christmas season with so many sessions I was glad for my Christmas break.

We have reopened the studio now for 2022 and already are becoming very busy,  January I only have 2 time slots left and Feb is getting busy.
